knitting update

Thursday, September 21st, 2006

I’ve been knitting and crocheting like crazy trying to get baby stuff done. Lisa could go into labor any day now and I have another shower on Sunday. So to do this I’ve been watching a lot of movies. I measure how much time it takes to finish something by how many movies I watch during it.

I have so much yarn lined up already for projects to do. Class starts next week and I’ll probably have 2 jobs starting a week or two after that. I’ve tried to figure out a schedule to finish some stuff. I need to finish 2 baby things this week, next month I need to sew my costume, in November I want to finish the shawl for my grandma to give to her at Thanksgiving, and in December I want to make a hat and fingerless gloves for me, although I’m sure it’ll be cold enough for them before then, I just won’t have time. Then I’ll only have yarn for about 10 projects after all those are done. I can’t wait until I’m done with school and part time jobs, and just have one full time job and more free time. That will be so fabulous.

Vogue 1944 design

Monday, September 11th, 2006

I picked out this pattern for Halloween:

The floral one reminds me of a dress Madonna wears in Evita during “Eva and Magaldi”, except Eva’s has a pink background.

The green one is really something any 40s actress could have worn to a premiere or something. I have to look for fabric still.

gaelic storm

Friday, September 8th, 2006

The Gaelic Storm concert last night was a lot of fun. It was only about half full, as opposed to when it sold out last time. I guess because it was a Thursday instead of a Friday? And last time was the end of March too so maybe people were still in a St. Patty’s mood. I forgot to bring my camera but I got a shirt signed. I might have to end up giving it to Laura though. They didn’t have any L so I got a M instead of an XL. I mean it fits but it’s tight. We’ll see if I can stretch it out a little bit.Tomorrow is Lisa’s baby shower. I’m not done the baby slings yet. I almost finished making one yesterday but then my sewing machine couldn’t handle the thickness where I have to sew through a bunch of folds. I’m going to have to hand sew that part I guess.

halloween

Tuesday, August 22nd, 2006

I decided I’m going to be Ingrid Bergman for Halloween. I found a ton of 40s dress patterns:
one
two
three
four

No one will know who I am but I love that style so I’m doing it. I thought of picking a particular outfit she wears and doing the same thing but I can find barely any full length pictures of her. She’s so gorgeous that all the pictures are just of her face. I downloaded a couple of her movies to try to pick something out of there.

sewing

Wednesday, August 9th, 2006

I am going to teach two friends to use their sewing machines. And it got me thinking about what costume I want to make for Halloween this year. Because I will be having a costume party.

Tribal Style Belly Dancer or Saloon Girl?

Most of the costumes I like are can-can related or flapper related. Maybe I should just make a new 1920s dress every year.

I just got a bunch of random cool fabric from around the world that was my grandmom’s. I have no idea what I’m going to do with all that.

I also got some jewelry and her wedding gown, which is gorgeous. You can’t really see details but here’s a pic I have scanned already:

cdbaby is love

KENNEDY FOSTER: kennedy foster
ANJ: coin and a half girls
UNCLE EARL: she waits for night
RED MOLLY: red molly ep
RED STICK RAMBLERS: right key, wrong keyhole

I finally gave in and got these. I can’t wait for them to arrive. :)

In knitting news, I am about to rip out an almost finished Evening Diamonds for the second time. I’m finally going to give in and swatch. I’ve learned my lesson. Once this is done, I’m going to make Orangina. And I will swatch there too I swear.

jeff cap

Monday, April 24th, 2006

I finally finished putting together my jeff cap pattern. It ended up being a little big but I think it looks pretty good still. I’m happy with it.

wonderful day

Friday, March 31st, 2006

I am loving this weather. Obviously, I’m sure you all are too. I was just in the park for an hour though and had to force myself to come back to work. I met Mike and his girlfriend and her friend for lunch. We ended up getting Wawa and then just sitting on the grass with Mike’s dog. It seems like I haven’t felt the sun like that in ages. Wow I want to go back outside and just lay there all day long.

So it’s my last day of work. Everyone keeps asking me how I feel that I’m never going to see them again. Haha, what kind of question is that?

I moved my knit blog over to kribit.com. I’ve had the domain for a while and it’s gone through different things but it’s been empty pretty recently. I basically use it for hosting and subdomains for other things. I figured I might as well put something there so I set up WordPress. Any way pictures of the baby blankets I made are up. I still have to get a picture of Kelly’s birthday present and I should be finishing one other thing up this weekend (hopefully).

I can’t wait for Gaelic Storm tonight :D

end of coop

Wednesday, March 29th, 2006

I went to NXNW last night to pick up the Gaelic Storm tickets. I’d never been there before but it looks like a great venue. The show is sold out so we need to get there early for good spots. I’m really looking forward to it, the band is very energetic and fun.

My boss had a baby last week and one of my other coworkers is about to have one. I randomly decided that I was going to make blankets for them even though my last day is Friday. Why I always give myself difficult or impossible deadlines, I have no idea. Any way I finished one and the other will be finished tomorrow night.

I’m getting a haircut on Saturday finally. I do want to grow it out but it’s getting pretty uneven so I’ll just get it trimmed and cleaned up. Then I’m helping my cousin move for most of the day, then hanging out with Lisa at night. We did a wine and cheese night before but since she’s pregnant and can’t do that any more, we’re going to do a milk and cookies night this time.

Class starts on Monday. I am not looking forward to it at all. I’m taking 19 credits and I’ll be starting a new job for probably 15-20 hours a week. I was going through my calendar trying to find a weekend to go see my grandparents and I already have every weekend in April and May booked with something at least one of the nights. I just want a vacation. This week is Drexel’s spring break but of course I can’t afford to take off. I already missed over a week of work for the flu and family deaths. Last year I didn’t get a spring break because I had already missed over a week of work for surgery. I have a week off in June so I’m going to maybe get some girls together to spend it at my grandparents’ lake house. We’ll see though. I’d almost rather just go up alone and completely relax / do nothing the entire week. Just reading in the hammock, napping on the porch, listening to music and watching the water, visiting family and knitting. That sounds like heaven right now.

sick

Monday, February 20th, 2006

I’m sick with whatever virus is going around. I went to the doctor and he gave me three different prescriptions and said maybe I’d feel better in 7-10 days. This sucks. I’m stuck at my parents’ house where I don’t even have a bed any more. I can’t drive back to Philly because I’m too shaky, I barely made it the 5 minutes to the doctor’s and back.

In better news, I got a picture of Laura in her sweater and Kendan in his. He refused to smile as soon as I got the camera out.
