jeff cap

I finally finished putting together my jeff cap pattern. It ended up being a little big but I think it looks pretty good still. I’m happy with it.

I love Cuba Libre. We went last night for the dancing and it was so much fun. I don’t actually know how to do any of those dances but if you have a good guy leading, you’re fine. I want to check out the lessons Brasil’s has on Wednesday nights though. I have class Wednesdays but we usually get out early.

Check out Google Calendar. It’s pretty cool for the most part. Calendar sharing, gmail integration, invites like Evite, reminders (although they don’t support Verizon with this either).

music

I think I’m going to a bluegrass festival for Labor Day this year. Ever since I saw O Brother Where Are Thou, I’ve loved this type of music. The only problem is, they’re all southern bands who don’t come anywhere near Philadelphia on tour, except for the occasional festival here and there. That festival is only $60 for 3 days, including camping. Can’t beat that.

I was watching No Direction Home (movie about Bob Dylan) with my dad this weekend. I’ve only seen the first part so far but it’s pretty cool. There are a lot of other musicians in it as well. Apparently Bob Dylan was a thief. He would just help himself to people’s record collections when they weren’t home. In one case he stole over a hundred rare records. His reasoning was that he needed them and that was the only place he could get them. It’s not even other people accusing him of stealing them either. He’s sitting there being interviewed and telling about it like it’s perfectly reasonable.

My Women, Crime & History class is going to be really interesting. We had a huge discussion about Alice Clifton today. We have to visit the archives and we’re doing a field trip to Eastern State. My research paper is probably going to focus on the 1920s. Big surprise, right?

Last weekend was really fun. Great parties Saturday and Sunday night. This Friday I’m going to go visit Nichelle before heading home for Easter.

I finally did my taxes and actually have a decent amount of money coming back. Enough for a month’s bills.

Friday during the day WiCS is going to the Google offices in NYC with Penn’s WiCS so that should be pretty cool. We also just got oficially recognized so we could try to get money from Drexel. AND we just got money from a corporate sponsor. Black and Decker of all places. Go figure.

My car is fixed. I probably shouldn’t say that though because now something else will break.

Gaelic Storm was amazing last weekend. They put on such a great show. We were front and center of the 2 foot high stage at NXNW so we were very into them and dancing the whole time. Stevie wasn’t there but apparently he is leaving the band for some family reason. These guys are just so funny, and they drink with you after the show! They’re actually going to be playing in Morristown next month but I’m not sure if I want to go to that show. I’m sure they’ll still be great but it’s more expensive and the tickets are for seats in an auditorium so it wouldn’t feel the same as dancing right in front of the stage, which is what this band is really great for. Plus all the close seats are already taken already. I’ll have to think about it some more.

My car is broken again. This time the alternator died. I was driving back to my parents’ after helping my cousin move and my stereo turned off and then my lights started getting dim. I just happened to be almost to my friend Lisa’s house so I pulled over and right when I pulled up in front of her house my engine died. Yay. Earlier that day, my brother got rear-ended. His bumper is folded up completely under the bed of the truck. The girl hit him so hard his faceplate jumped out of his dashboard. The bed slammed into the back of the cab and dented it. And the bed is about 6 inches higher than normal and the frame looks bent. So they’re going to tell him it’s totaled and give him $500 even though it was a perfectly nice truck before it got hit. Yes it’s an 87 but everything in it had been replaced. It was our mechanic’s personal truck before he bought it. So yeah, we’re pretty lucky when it comes to vehicles that run.

Classes started this week. I have tons of work in them already. I want to go back to coop.
