I’m very graceful

I slipped on the ice yesterday, fell and sprained my elbow. The left one, of course. In case you don’t know, I have fallen and broken my left arm twice before. So this makes two and a half? The bone isn’t broken, just the ligaments. I actually fell mostly on my right side because I’m bruised all over there. I have no idea how my left elbow got involved. Just to make it more ridiculous I guess.

I have a male brain

I took this BBC Science and Nature Sex ID quiz to see whether I had a male or female brain. I was kind of thinking it’d be more male since I’m a computer science major for one, but also because I don’t usually have a lot of the female drama thing going on that a lot of the other girls I know do, or even just more typically female reactions to things. I am definitely not a girly girl in most aspects. My score was 25% on the male side. Average score for men is 50% on the male side, and average score for women is 50% on the female side.

gross

Driving home from a friend’s place in Willow Grove this morning, I ran into some traffic on North Broad. There were 2 cars stopped in front of me, while the other lane kept moving fine. The car directly in front of me managed to change lanes and go around and I was able to see what the holdup was. Some bum was stumbling around the middle of the street in front of this car. That car was finally able to get around and now the bum was directly in front of me. I still couldn’t move around so we got to watch as the bum’s bare ass suddenly came into view. Jocelyne yelled out “Oh my God, that bum is going to shit.” Sure enough, the bum popped a squat in the middle of the street, right in front of my car. Turns out it was a woman, and she only pissed. She finally pulled her pants back up, and stumbled around some more in front of me, before going enough towards the middle of the street that I could get past her. Michael insists that she was strutting around now looking all smug at what she just did. I can’t believe I saw this happen.

health

I’ve never been that into New Year’s resolutions, or even New Year’s for that matter. In fact, I slept through this year’s holiday since I was sick. I was more annoyed at missing the parties my friends were having than missing the ball drop / countdown / holiday thing. Any way I’ve decided that now is as good a time as any to start my main goal (or resolution, whatever you want to call it):

I want to be more healthy.
1. Take vitamins. I’ve had a cold for like a month now and it’s really annoying. It should be simple to remember to take this stuff everyday, but I’m lazy and so far haven’t done it.
2. Eat better. More fruits and veggies, anything so my diet is not completely pasta. I’ve been cooking more already so this one should be easy.
3. Exercise. The schedule I’ll have this coming term gives me more than enough time to go to the gym most days. I’m also considering a yoga or belly dancing class.
4. Sleep. I feel like I’m sleep deprived a lot, which might also contribute to my getting sick easily.

This stuff shouldn’t be hard to do, it’s all a matter of making myself do it enough so it becomes routine and overcomes the laziness.

Eugenics and Sex Harmony

I came across this great book from the 1930s at a friend’s place last night. It’s incredibly funny. The sexism in it is just outrageous. One of the questions it addresses is “Are women human beings?”

Melody Gardot

I found Melody Gardot since she’s opening for James Hunter on New Year’s Eve. I probably won’t go to that since house parties are better for NYE – going out is so crowded and the prices for everything get jacked up. Any way she’s also playing at World Cafe Live this Friday so I might go see her then. She’s got such a great voice. CDBaby calls her music “folky-blues, acoustic jazz.” She’s from Philly too. Check her out.
