Duo

Filed under: knitting — Kristin @ 11:13 pm

I made Duo for my cousin’s baby.  The yarn is TLC Cara Mia 50% acyrlic / 19% nylon / 18% rayon / 13% angora in Demin (2801), Cranberry (2376), and Winter White (2001) that I got at AC Moore.  The buttons are 7/8″ from JHB International, style 92086.  I used size 7 needles.  The sweater is size 2T.

Once he actually tried the sweater on I removed the buttons.  They were too close together for comfort and actually completely unnecessary, which is a shame since I love those buttons.

Floppy Brim Hat

Filed under: knitting — Kristin @ 10:52 pm

I finished the Floppy Brim Hat for my aunt. It is meant to match the Breast Cancer Ribbon Scarf and uses the same yarn: Rowan Yarns Classic Cashsoft Aran 57% extra fine merino / 33% microfibre / 10% cashmere in Burst (005) that I got at Rosie’s.  I used size 7 needles for this as well.  I blocked the hat using a balloon for shaping.

Breast Cancer Ribbon Scarf

Filed under: knitting — Kristin @ 6:30 pm

My aunt has recently been going though some things from breast cancer so I decided to make her something.  I was looking around at patterns and couldn’t find anything I really liked until I came across Lisa Lloyd’s Pink Ribbons Socks [pdf].  I decided to turn the pattern into a scarf instead though, having the ribbons go down the middle of the scarf with seed stitch on both sides.  I made the scarf in two pieces so that the ribbons would be oriented the right way during wear.  The yarn is Rowan Yarns Classic Cashsoft Aran 57% extra fine merino / 33% microfibre / 10% cashmere in Burst (005) that I got at Rosie’s.  I used size 7 needles.  The finished length of the scarf after blocking is 68 inches.  This was my first time for making cables, working from a chart, and blocking.

Beaded Purse

Filed under: sewing — Kristin @ 8:15 pm

I made this beaded purse based on McCall’s 9661D.  The original pattern only had a strip of beads at the bottom so I added the rest.
